The Helmholtz School for Marine Data Science (MarDATA) is a joint activity by the marine institutes GEOMAR - Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel and the Alfred-Wegener-Institute (AWI) Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, Bremerhaven, together with their university partners Kiel University, University of Bremen and Constructor University in Bremen. MarDATA is funded by the Helmholtz Association.
The governance for MarDATA consists of a council of principal investigators (guiding the overall direction and selection of doctoral topics), a steering board (overseeing the scientific, operational and administrative running of the school), and an advisory board (providing an external, objective guidance of the educational concepts).
MarDATA is coordinated at GEOMAR Kiel (Coordinator: Dr. Enno Prigge).
The current speaker is Prof. Dr. Arne Biastoch.
