Due to it's limited duration, the project will develop and optimize the platform primarily for respiratory infectious diseases.

However, the platform can be adapted to all infectious diseases. This requires further scientific work beyond the project.

Properties of virus spread that the calculation requires, such as incubation time or human contact behavior, are never known exactly. We refer to these properties as input factors. With uncertainty in the input factors comes uncertainty in the output of the calculations, i.e., it can never be predicted exactly how many new infections there will be. However, with the help of uncertainty quantification, which is mapped in the platform, it is possible to estimate with which probability the result lies in a certain range.

Yes, outbreaks can be viewed nationwide, not just for the health authority's jurisdiction.

With regard to the location of an outbreak, it is currently only possible to make a statement about an outbreak in a specific rural or urban district. The exact source of the outbreak, e.g. a specific facility, cannot be determined. The reason for this is that publicly available case data on county level (provided by the Robert Koch Institute) is currently being used to determine the number of cases and not yet more local data. Therefore no detailed statements can be made. However, the use of individual, local data is planned for the future.

The extent to which certain groups of people are affected can be made visible through a series of filter options such as the age or gender of people.

The software is a web application that can be used with a current browser. Access from laptops and tablets is therefore possible without restrictions. The platform can also be accessed via smartphones. However, as part of the project, there are no plans to adapt and optimize the design for use with smartphones.

Several employees can log into the web application and use the platform at the same time.
User roles with different permissions should be provided for different accesses (e.g.: uploads).
