Challenge #09
Translating global climate knowledge into regional models.
REKLIM provides answers to the regional manifestation of climate change, its causes and its consequences and identifies options for action – for the present and the future.
Participating centers
Over the years, climate research has evolved into a “system science,” encompassing the entire climate and Earth system as a whole. It now represents a highly interdisciplinary and extremely solution-oriented science. REKLIM has been setting standards in this field for nearly a decade. Together, the participating Helmholtz centers contribute their unique expertise in various branches of climate research, such as atmospheric, polar, or soil research. In this regard, REKLIM acts as a melting pot for their respective competencies, helping to understand the interplay between individual climate components and to enable more accurate projections by using better regional climate models. In REKLIM, we collaborate across thematic boundaries to create a bridge between natural and social sciences.
