Research in Europe

Helmholtz actively promotes the development of the European Research Area and represents the interests of German science in the European Union. Our strategic goal is to establish Helmholtz Centers as lead partners in European research projects. The Association has already maintained an office in Brussels since 2002 and also cooperates bilaterally with partner institutions in numerous European countries.

Research worldwide

Helmholtz is an important member of the international scientific community. Together with research partners worldwide, we are shaping the future of society: We work in an international network, especially with institutions in Europe, the USA, but also with leading institutions in Asia and the Pacific region. Since 2004, for example, the office in Beijing has supported the expansion of German-Chinese research relations. In fall 2018, the Helmholtz Association opened a foreign office in Tel Aviv.
