Dr. Daniela Gerd tom Markotten
Dr. Daniela Gerd tom Markotten is Senator of the Helmholtz Association for the research field Aeronautics, Space and Transport and Member of the Management Board for Digitalization and Technology at Deutsche Bahn AG since 2021.

After studying industrial engineering in Karlsruhe with stays abroad in China and Costa Rica, she completed her PhD in IT security at the Albert Ludwig University Freiburg in 2003.
She started her career at Daimler AG, where she already worked mainly on digital and innovation topics and held various positions in IT, logistics and production for many years. Among others, she was CEO of "Daimler Fleetboard Management" and Head of "Digital Solutions & Services" at Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
Between 2017 and 2020, Dr. Gerd tom Markotten was CEO of moovel Group, a mobility joint venture between Daimler and BMW, where she was responsible for the global activities of the company with locations in Stuttgart, Hamburg and Berlin, as well as for moovel North America, based in Portland, Oregon.
Following that, she founded the tech startup IUHHOO in 2020, which develops software solutions for AI- and AR-based video calls.
In September 2021, the Management Board of the Deutsche Bahn AG appointed her as Board Member for Digitalization and Technology, where she is responsible for research and development, IT, digitalization and heavy maintenance.
