Dr. Brigitte Bach
Dr. Brigitte Bach is Senator of the Helmholtz Association for the research field Energy and Managing Director/Spokesperson of the Management Board of the Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH in Vienna.
Brigitte Bach finished her PhD in technical physics at the Vienna University of Technology in 1992 and completed a postgraduate course in "Management Development and Communication" at the Danube University Krems. After working for the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and as managing director of the Austrian Institute of Ecology, she became an independent entrepreneur in the environmental and energy sector for several years.
Ms. Bach began her career within the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 1999 and played a major role in establishing energy research at its predecessor organization "arsenal research".
In 2005, she became head of the Sustainable Energy Systems unit at AIT, and in 2009, head of the Center of Energy, where she focused her research on "Energy Infrastructure", "Smart Cities" and "Energy Efficiency in Industry". In particular, she dealt with key issues of energy infrastructure and the development of solutions for future energy systems.
In 2018, Ms. Bach moved to Wien Energie GmbH, where she was responsible for the business unit "Telecommunications, Electromobility and New Business" for more than two years. There she was responsible for the development of the e-charging infrastructure in Vienna as well as the establishment of new mobility services. She also had a key role in the expansion of the fiber-optic infrastructure and the further development of smart TV and telecommunications products. During her time at Wien Energie, she was also in charge of creating new services and products in the areas of "Smart Cities" and "Energy Communities".
Between 2020 and 2023 she worked for three years at Salzburg AG, where she first supported the #vorwärts program with her expertise in change management and became a member of the Management Board in January 2021.
In October 2023, she returned to the Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna as Managing Director and Spokesperson of the Management Board where she is now responsible for AIT's strategic positioning, external relations and product portfolio.
